Ian Shapira has been a staff writer for The Washington Post since 2000. He is a local enterprise reporter specializing in stories about the Millennial generation, young people trying to pursue careers in art, the media, government, non-profits, and social entrepreneurship. He was a lead reporter on the Post team that won the Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for coverage of the Virginia Tech massacre; his reporting and commentary on the shootings were featured in the 2008 anthology of “Best Newspaper Writing,” published by the Poynter Institute.
